Nepal ousted from Asia Cup Qualifiers

Kathmandu, Aug 30 – United Arab Emirates (UAE) eliminated Nepal from the ongoing Asia Cup Qualifiers-2018, defeating Nepal by 78 runs in the second match held in the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia today. Earlier in its first match on Wednesday, Nepal lost to Oman by seven wickets.
UAE posted a target of 255 runs after being put into bat first after losing the toss. Chasing the target, Nepal was restricted to only 176 runs in 48.5 overs at the loss of all wickets.
For Nepal, Subas Khakurel made the highest 50 runs in 97 runs with one six and two boundaries. Likewise, Dipendra Singh Aire contributed 40 runs, while Sompal Kami 27, Captain Paras Khadka 16 and Basanta Regmi 12. Opener Gyanendra Malla hit four runs, and Rohit Kumar Poudel nine and Sagar Pun three.
Opener Chirag Suri made 65 runs with one six and seven fours for UAE. Similarly, another opener Ashfaq Ahmed hit 45 runs, while Rameez Shahzad 35 and Adnan Mufti 41.
For Nepal, Sandip Lamichhane claimed highest four wickets conceding 24 runs in 10 overs. He bowled two maiden overs. Similarly, Basanta Regmi and Sompal Kami took two wickets each.
