IT for prosperity: PM Oli

Kathmandu, Aug 17 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said government has prioritized the use of IT for the economic prosperity of the country.
Giving a video message to a programme organized by the Living with ICT to present the third edition of the Net Gear ICT Award 2018 here Friday, PM Oli viewed that IT has brought forth new possibilities. “Optical fibres would be expanded to all mid hill districts by 2020,” he said, adding that every sector would be linked to IT. Good governance could be maintained through IT, according to him.
On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Bakota, seconded the PM that government was for country’s prosperity through the development of information technology.
Minister Baskota conferred the awards on various eight categories at the programme.
ICT Start-Up Award was presented to People Development Lab Pvt Ltd while I-Solution Life received ICT Product Award.
Similarly, ICT Pioneer Award was presented to Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mercantile Communication, Sanjeev Rajbhandari.
Likewise, Nepal Police bagged the Digital Governance Award while journalist Santosh Neupane of Nagarik daily and journalist Gopal Saud of Naya Patrika daily received ICT Media Award.
On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Mahendra Man Gurung, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, and Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Krishna Raj BC, among others said that the government had been carrying out its works giving IT the top priority.
