Supreme Court to hear case on President’s oath from CJ

Kathmandu, March 27 – The Supreme Court will hear the case concerning the oath taken by President Bidya Devi Bhandari from then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli.

The hearing on the case is taking place after a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Iswar Prasad Khatiwada issued an order to register a petition filed in relation to the oath taken by the President from CJ Parajuli, who had already completed the age of 65 years of retirement by then. “The petitioner has raised an important and serious issue from the perspective of exercise and interpretation of the constitutional and legal provisions, hence it would not be appropriate to not allow it a process of judicial hearing,” reads the order.

It may be noted that the apex court administration had earlier denied registering the petition filed by Advocate Narayan Kharel.
