Star bowler Lamichhane leaving for IPL Tuesday

Kathmandu, March 26 – The first ever Nepali cricketer to be recruited for the cash-rich Indian Premier League, Sandeep Lamichhane, is leaving to join his club Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old leg spinner, a member of Nepali national team, was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for a base price of Rs 2 million Indian rupees to play in the 2018 edition of IPL, a Twenty20 tournament featuring various Indian clubs with local and foreign players.

Speaking at a press conference held here today, Lamichhane expressed happiness for being able to represent Nepal in the tournament. He also expressed the confidence that the learning and experience from the tournament would be helpful to the Nepali cricket sector as a whole.

The IPL is taking place in various cities of India from coming April 7 to May 26.
