NCP unification process: Taskforce struggles to forge consensus

Kathmandu, Feb. 10 – The taskforce formed to finalise the modality of party unification process in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is yet to come to a common point regarding the unification in the grassroots committees.

The secretariat meeting of the NCP held last Monday had directed the taskforce to submit its report in the current form within a day. However, the report is yet not prepared even after a week of such directive from the party secretariat.
It is said that the preparation of the report is delayed due to divided agendas and taskforce members’ scheduled programmes out of the Capital.

Though Chairman duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ agreed on Saturday to finalized the disputed issues soon and disseminate the message of party unity across the country, its positive impacts is not realised in the taskforce.

Leader Yogesh Bhattarai, a member of the taskforce, said that efforts for the consensus would continue adding that the meeting of taskforce members is not held. He, however, ruled out the rumours surrounding the taskforce’s failure.
The taskforce is given responsibility to finalise the report on work division of the central committee members and unification of the district committee and party’s sister organisations.
