Kathmandu, Nov 14 (RSS): Nepal contained the Philippines to a goalless draw in the fifth match played under the AFC Asian Cup at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, on Tuesday.
In the away match, Nepal was defeated by the Philippines with 4-1 goals in the latter’s home ground last March.
Although the game ended in a draw, Nepal was already relegated from the competition.
Earlier, Nepal, which had played four matches, got success to play only one draw. With the match played Tuesday, the Philippines in Group F, secured top rank with 9 points, while Yemen stood second.
Anil announces retirement
Meanwhile, 31-year-old striker Anil Gurung, who has played 50 international games for the national team, announced his retirement from international football.
During his international stint, he scored 10 goals. He was bade farewell amidst a programme organized by ANFA on Tuesday.
