Kathmandu, Sept. 3 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit concluded on August 31 in Kathmandu remained fruitful.
Addressing the final meeting of the BIMSTEC Summit Preparations and Management Main Committee at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Monday, PM Oli shared the BIMSTEC Summit turned fruitful in terms of both management and decisions.
Saying that the power generated in Nepal needs grid interconnection for its export to other countries, the Prime Minister shared that exchange of cooperation in hydro electricity was agreed in the BIMSTEC Summit.
Especially, focused discussions were held with India and Bangladesh over the issue of hydropower and the electricity could be exported as far as to Thailand in the distance future besides India, Bangladesh and Myanmar, the PM shared.
The PM said, “Kathmandu Declaration has been issued by holding discussions in BIMSTEC, according top priority to the interests of Nepal and Nepalis. We will work by keeping national interests at the centre in BIMSTEC or other regional and international forums.”
Likewise, the PM thanked to all the ministries, the government bodies, residents of the Kathmandu Valley and the media for the support to make the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit a success.
